"Lily and PAWS: The Ghosts of Summer" by Douglas R. Cobb

Lily and PAWS: The Ghosts of Summer is the sequel to my novel Lily, Unleashed. It's also the second book in my The Case Files of Lily and PAWS series of humorous mystery novels. I'm currently working on an unrelated YA novel, titled My Brother The Zombie.

Lily and PAWS: The Ghosts of Summer continues the adventures of the world's best-known and most beloved terrier/pterodactyl, Lily, her thirteen-year-old "owner," Celeste Quince, and the rest of PAWS (Private Army of Warrior Sleuths), Fuzzy Wally MacGee (a Chinese Crested/rhino), Lucy Marmoset Higgins (a Great Dane/orangutan), and Prince Alphonse Saed (a miniature dachsund/Mountain Lion) as they attempt to foil the latest plans of the Scarlet Macaw Frankie Sinister and the Scarlet SNURFLES. The claim they want to develop an alternative energy source, but when the ghosts of Arkansas start disappearing from their favorite haunts, it looks like it's a case for Lily, Celeste, and PAWS. How can they say "No," when the request comes from the "Bandit Queen," the ghost of Belle Starr? Read about their exciting and often humorous sleuthing adventures as they travel throughout Arkansas encountering ghosts (both good and diabolically evil) ! Also, be sure to read the first book in the exciting new series, Lily, Unleashed!

Exclusively at Amazon's Kindle Store.

"Lily, Unleashed" by Douglas R. Cobb

I'm Douglas R. Cobb, the author of the MG/YA ebooks Lily, Unleashed and Lily and PAWS: The Ghosts of Summer. I'm currently working on an unrelated YA novel, My Brother The Zombie.

What is Lily, Unleashed, about?

Lily is not your usual terrier. In fact, she's not a terrier at all. She's a pterodactyl who has the power (among others) of clouding peoples' minds. Join Lily, her "owner" thirteen-year-old Celeste, and the other members of PAWS (Private Army of Warrior Sleuths), Fuzzy Wally MacGee (a Chinese Crested/rhino), Lucy Marmoset Higgins (a Great Dane/orangutan), and Prince Alphonse Saed (a miniature dachsund/Mountain Lion) as they fight crime wherever they encounter it, Read their humorous and exciting adventures as they battle against the criminal organization, the Scarlet SNURFLES, headed by the scarlet Macaw, Frankie Sinister. And, when they also have to face the Scarlet Mafia (lead by the scarlet Macaw, Benny the Beak), the aliens known as the Greys, the red Egyptian fox and leader of the Guild of Assassins, Omar Khalid Ali, and the red panda, General Yao Xing, can even Lily, Celeste, and PAWS hope to succeed?

Where can it be purchased?

 Exclusively at Amazon's Kindle Store.

Author Interview with Peter Meredith

Peter Meredith is the author of The Punished, available on Amazon for Kindle.

Why do you write?
For the fame and the chicks... I mean, I love the written word in all its forms (except poetry, which really sucks.)

How many books have you written?
4 plus a novelette.

What inspired you to write your (latest) book?
My first book inspired me. Even before I had finished it, I had decided I would turn it into a trilogy. At the time, I had no idea what the second book would be about, let alone the third. I just fell in love with my own characters and wanted to see them grow.

What is your favorite genre to read?
All, save romances. I just can't get into girl porn. Stop shaking your head. I know that you ladies are out there asking yourselves, "What did he just say? Did he just call my Nicolas Sparks novel Girl Porn? Oh no he di-int!" (That was really pathetic, I know.)

Is your writing style at all influenced by those of your favorite authors?
Probably, but from my own perspective, I can't see it.

Which is your favorite book that you’ve written?
My first, The Horror of the Shade. There is a ton of myself and my past experiences in it.

What is your opinion of the art of writing?
Let's equate it to music. Jane Austen is the symphony, beautiful but really kinda dull. Stephen King is Elvis. Whatever he writes turns to gold. Me? In all honesty, if I were ever to reach my goal, I would be the Tom Petty of writing. A little ugly and with an odd tone but still able to put out some good stuff. No can resist singing along to American Girl... Oh yeah, all right. Take it easy baby. Make it last all night. She was, an American girl...

What advice would you give someone who is just beginning their own novel?
Go away! I don't need the competition. Really, that's no joke. Go play in traffic. Actually, I don't know if I can offer advice. I never took advance English classes or creative writing courses, in fact, one of my first classes at Hunter college was a remedial English class and I failed that, mainly because I never bothered to attend. I got into writing on a whim. One day in October of last year, I decided I would write a book. It filled my mind constantly. Everywhere I went, whatever I was doing, my thoughts were on my characters. What would they do in a given situation? How would they logically or illogically react? Do I let them spin out of control on an emotional level now, or do I have them hold it together till Johnny dies?

Do you have any funny and / or interesting stories about how you’ve come up with plots or characters?
I could come up with something, but somebody limited me to 500 words!

Coke or Pepsi?
Wild Turkey.
